Event Schedule
All events will be held at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyo. The campus is located about 3 miles southeast of downtown Cheyenne. There are links to area maps below.
Friday, June 16
7 - 9 pm Warm-up bee and dessert reception open to all competitors, their families and friends
Saturday, June 17
8 – 8:30 am: Contestants check-in, pick up their spelling packets and enjoy a “brain food” breakfast of fruit, eggs, yogurt and granola provided by AARP Wyoming
8:30 a.m. Contestants take their seats, learn about the rules and each other
9:15 am: The competition begins with four rounds of written spelling. This will be broken up into rounds of 25 words each for a total of 100 words. A short coffee break will be offered between rounds 2 and 3.
11:30 am: Soup and salad luncheon provided by AARP Wyoming
12:30 pm: Announcement of finalists who advance to the afternoon's competition. Oral spelling competition begins and continues until a winner emerges.
